Windows MCE 2005 Rollup 2 - Radio Too!

I've obviously recovered from my software updates addiction. I just ran IBM Software Installer and it found 400 MB of accumulated updates waiting for my laptop. That was exciting, so I ran the Windows Update for all my machines as well.

I usually let Microsoft keep my Windows computers up to date with software patches for me. My computers download the latest important updates for me, and then I have to spend a few days ignoring the "reboot now" messages while I finish closing all my browser windows. That's just High-Priority updates though. Running Windows update by hand also offers Recommended Software Updates and Hardware Updates (drivers).

This weekend I noticed Update Rollup 2 for Media Center Edition 2005 was listed in the optional Software Updates section. With a name like that I thought I must already have all the bits, but it turns out to have a fix that I've been waiting for. I can now listen to (and record) the radio stations transmitted with Freeview. Also navigating the My Pictures and My Music sections feels quicker. And was the Playlists option there before? I think there must have been some time spent improving performance in general, because MCE seems just more pleasant to use.

Funny thing: After the update, there is an Update Rollup for Update Rollup 2 waiting to be downloaded. I'm feeling dizzy.
